Day 8 – Mopar Recon

Mopar brought some of their Moab concepts to SEMA this year which makes me happy since they were so awesome. Once of these concepts is the Mopar Recon. 14_SEMA-2013-Chrysler-OEM

I had a conversation with our General Manager a few months back about the HEMI crate engines offered by Mopar and whether or not they were a mod that Jeep owners were actually interested in (due to the cost and work involved) and when Mopar unveiled the Recon with the 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 crate engine it made my job of explaining that yes Jeep owners want this so much easier. The 470 horsepower engine in the Recon was mated with a 5-speed automatic transmission and Dana 60 front and rear axles with 4.10 gearing. The axles are suspended by a 4.5-inch prototype long-arm lift kit and roll on Jeep Performance Parts prototype forged eight-lug beadlock wheels with 39-inch off-road tires.
